On October 19, 2021, the members of Subcommittee 14 of ISO TC 20 within the framework of the Working Group 3 (WG3) appointed Raimondo Cinquemani, Safety and Compliant Engineer in EuroUSC Italynational expert member for the Space Traffic Coordination (STC). 

The Subcommittee 14 deals with the safety assessment in all the coordination phases of Space Traffic, starting from the pre-launch phase, up to the mission disposal phase. Its purpose is to release standards concerning protocols and operational requirements associated with the Space Traffic Coordination, in order to ensure flight safety and mitigate the risk of collision. The Committee is currently engaged in the development of a standard which imposes the requirements of an STC system and facilitates the provision of highly available, rapid, complete and sufficiently accurate services to support the safety, the efficiency and the sustainability of the Space Traffic. 

«It is a great honour for me to receive this appointment which, moreover, has never been recognized to an Italian member.» Raimondo Cinquemani affirmed «I will support the development of this standard by providing the proper knowledge learned in terms of safety. This Subcommittee will make it possible to create a first path for the management of the space operations, bridging the gaps related to the regulatory requirements.»

Raimondo Cinquemani holds a master’s degree in Navigation Science and Technologies in Flight management and safety from University of Naples “Parthenope”. He graduated in 2021 with a thesis on SESAR PJ.05 “Remote Tower”. He worked for several solution making companies as ISSNOVA and NAIS s.r.l. aimed at the development and the proposal in the appropriate market sectors for innovative applications and services based on Satellite Navigation (GRADE Project).  

He holds a FISO and MET-AFIS European Licence issued by ENAC. In 2021 he joined EuroUSC Italia as Safety & Compliance engineer. He is involved in several European R&D projects (such as FlightAIENjOy, DEGREE) and he is a member of several standardisation bodies as EUROCAE WG117 (UAS Airborne software), ISO TC/43 (UAS Noise), EUROCAE WG105 (UAS ACAS) and ASTM WK76044 (UAS Autonomy).
